What to cook at Park BBQ?

When it comes to cooking at a park BBQ, there are plenty of delicious options to choose from. Whether you’re grilling up some classic burgers and hot dogs or getting more adventurous with marinated chicken or grilled vegetables, the possibilities are endless.

One of my personal favorites for a park BBQ is marinated chicken skewers. They’re easy to prepare ahead of time and always a crowd-pleaser. To make them, simply marinate chicken pieces in your favorite sauce or marinade (such as teriyaki or barbecue) for at least an hour or overnight. Then, thread the chicken onto skewers and grill over medium heat until cooked through and slightly charred. The marinade adds incredible flavor and keeps the chicken juicy and tender.

Another great option for a park BBQ is grilled vegetables. I love slicing up some bell peppers, zucchini, eggplant, and mushrooms, tossing them in olive oil, salt, and pepper, and grilling them until they’re nicely charred and tender. You can also brush them with a balsamic glaze or sprinkle them with herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra flavor.

If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional, you can’t go wrong with classic burgers and hot dogs. Prepare your burger patties by mixing ground beef with your favorite seasonings, such as Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Form the mixture into patties and grill over medium-high heat until they reach your desired level of doneness. As for hot dogs, simply grill them until they’re heated through and slightly charred.

For those who prefer a vegetarian option, grilled portobello mushroom burgers are a fantastic choice. Marinate the mushrooms in a mixture of balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and olive oil for about 30 minutes, then grill them until they’re tender and juicy. Serve them on a bun with your favorite toppings, like lettuce, tomato, and cheese.

To accompany your grilled dishes, consider making some simple sides. A refreshing and easy option is a classic pasta salad. Cook your favorite pasta shape according to the package instructions, then toss it with chopped vegetables (such as cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers) and a tangy vinaigrette dressing. You can also add some grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.

If you’re in the mood for something lighter, a fresh summer salad is always a great choice. Mix together a variety of greens, such as lettuce, spinach, and arugula, and top it with sliced strawberries, crumbled feta cheese, and a simple vinaigrette. It’s a perfect complement to any grilled dish.

And of course, no park BBQ is complete without some tasty desserts. One of my go-to options is grilled fruit. Sliced pineapple, peaches, or watermelon can be placed directly on the grill for a few minutes on each side until they’re caramelized and slightly smoky. Serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a sweet and satisfying treat.

Remember to pack all the necessary utensils and supplies for a successful park BBQ. Don’t forget the charcoal, lighter fluid, grilling tools, plates, napkins, and garbage bags to clean up afterward. It’s also a good idea to bring some extra seasoning, condiments, and drinks to ensure everyone’s taste preferences are covered.

Enjoy the beautiful outdoors, the company of friends and family, and the delicious food at your park BBQ adventure!
