The landscape in Houston, Texas is diverse and unique, showcasing various natural features and vegetation. As a gardening and landscaping expert, I have had the opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of this region. Houston is situated in the Gulf Coastal Plain biome, which influences its landscape and vegetation.
One prominent feature of Houston’s landscape is its marshes and wetlands. Many areas of the city were built on what were once marshy areas, and remnants of these wetlands can still be found in surrounding regions. These marshes are characterized by waterlogged and saturated soil, creating a distinct ecosystem that is home to a variety of plants and wildlife. Walking through these marshes is an immersive experience, as you can observe unique vegetation such as cattails, water lilies, and various grasses.
The city of Houston also has a significant presence of forested land, particularly in the outskirts and surrounding areas. These forests are predominantly composed of pine trees, oak trees, and other hardwood species. The lush greenery and towering trees create a peaceful and serene atmosphere, providing a welcome escape from the bustling city life. Exploring these forests, I have come across beautiful wildflowers, ferns, and mosses that add to the enchanting charm of the landscape.

Cypress swamps are particularly common in Houston, with their distinct cypress trees that thrive in waterlogged conditions.
