What is the blue stuff they spray on grass?

The blue stuff that is often seen being sprayed on grass is actually a dye that some companies add to their weed control applications. It serves no practical purpose in terms of the effectiveness of the product. The dye is simply added to make it easier for the person applying the weed control to see where they have sprayed.

I have personally used weed control products with the added blue dye in my own gardening and landscaping projects. While it can be helpful in ensuring even coverage and avoiding missed spots, it doesn’t actually make the weed control work any better. It’s more of a visual aid for the person doing the spraying.

The blue dye is usually water-soluble, which means it will fade and eventually disappear as the product dries or is washed away by rain. It won’t leave a permanent blue stain on the grass or other surfaces. However, it’s still a good idea to avoid spraying near any surfaces that may be difficult to clean or could be stained by the dye.

It’s worth noting that not all weed control products come with the added blue dye. Some companies choose not to include it, and their products are just as effective without it. So, if you don’t see the blue dye being sprayed, it doesn’t mean that the weed control is any less effective.

The blue stuff that is sprayed on grass is simply a dye added to weed control products for visual purposes. It doesn’t enhance the effectiveness of the product itself and will eventually fade away.
