What is Graptoveria Amethorum?

Graptopetalum amethystinum and Echeveria purpusorum are two succulent plants that have been combined to create the beautiful hybrid known as Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’. This particular plant is quite rare and sought after by succulent enthusiasts for its unique characteristics and stunning appearance.

One of the defining features of Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’ is its thick leaves, which have a speckled sea green to frosty silver coloration. These leaves are quite succulent, allowing the plant to store water and withstand periods of drought. When grown in bright sunlight, the edges of the leaves can blush pink to red, adding a touch of vibrant color to the overall appearance of the plant.

The leaves of Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’ are chunky and keeled, giving them a slightly raised and rounded shape. They are arranged in a rosette pattern, with the leaves forming a circular shape around the center of the plant. This arrangement allows the plant to maximize its exposure to sunlight, which is essential for its growth and overall health.

If you closely observe the leaves of Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’, you may notice a faint line running down the center of each leaf. This line adds an interesting detail to the overall appearance of the plant, giving it a subtle and delicate touch. It is one of those small features that make this hybrid truly unique and visually appealing.

In terms of care, Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’ is relatively low-maintenance. Like most succulents, it thrives in well-draining soil and requires infrequent watering. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it is important to allow the soil to dry out between waterings. This plant also appreciates bright sunlight, so placing it in a location that receives direct sunlight for a few hours each day is ideal.

I had the pleasure of growing Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’ in my own garden, and it quickly became one of my favorite succulents. Its unique coloration and texture make it a standout among other succulents, and it adds a touch of elegance to any garden or potted arrangement. The way the leaves blush in the sunlight is truly mesmerizing, and it never fails to catch the attention of visitors.

Graptoveria ‘Amethorum’ is a rare and beautiful hybrid of Graptopetalum amethystinum and Echeveria purpusorum. Its thick, speckled leaves, with the potential to blush pink to red, make it a visually striking succulent. Its chunky, keeled leaves and faint center line add to its unique appearance. With proper care, this succulent can thrive and bring a touch of beauty to any garden or collection.
