Is Georgia Blue Speedwell invasive?

Georgia Blue Speedwell, also known as Veronica peduncularis ‘Georgia Blue’, is a beautiful perennial plant that is commonly used in gardening and landscaping. It is a low-growing ground cover that adds a splash of vibrant blue color to the garden.

One of the concerns many gardeners have when considering planting a new species is whether or not it is invasive. In the case of Georgia Blue Speedwell, it is important to note that it is not invasive. This means that it does not aggressively take over the garden or spread uncontrollably.

In fact, Georgia Blue Speedwell is quite well-behaved and performs best in full sun. It prefers average, medium moisture levels and well-drained soils. However, it is also tolerant of light shade if necessary. Once established, this plant is drought and heat tolerant, making it a great choice for gardens in hot and dry climates.

I have personally grown Georgia Blue Speedwell in my own garden and have found it to be a delight. It adds a lovely pop of color to my landscape and has not caused any issues with invasiveness. It stays within its designated area and does not encroach on other plants or areas of the garden.

In terms of care, this plant is relatively low maintenance. It does not require frequent watering once established and is generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, like any plant, it is important to monitor for any signs of distress and address them promptly.

To summarize, Georgia Blue Speedwell is not invasive and can be a wonderful addition to any garden. Its vibrant blue flowers and low-growing habit make it a fantastic ground cover option. With proper care, this plant can thrive in a variety of conditions and provide beauty for years to come.
