How many cloves are in Spanish Roja?

Spanish Roja is a variety of garlic that typically contains an average of 8-12 cloves per bulb. However, it is important to note that like any Rocambole garlic, there may be some variations in the number of cloves. In some cases, you may even come across cloves that have formed doubles or triples, which can be quite exciting to discover while harvesting or cooking with this variety.

One of the notable characteristics of Spanish Roja garlic is that its skins peel off with exceptional ease. This can be a great advantage when it comes to preparing the cloves for culinary use. The light brown color of the skins adds to the overall appeal of this garlic variety.

In addition to cloves, Spanish Roja garlic also produces bulbils. Bulbils are small, aerial bulbs that form in the flower stalk of garlic plants. They are essentially miniature garlic cloves and can be used for planting and propagation. Spanish Roja typically produces anywhere from 5 to 25 largish bulbils, which can provide additional opportunities for growing more garlic in your garden.

Personally, I have grown Spanish Roja garlic in my own garden and have been impressed with the number of cloves it produces. The bulbs are usually plump and full, with each one containing a satisfying amount of cloves. When it comes time to harvest and separate the cloves, I find that they tend to come apart easily, making the process much more efficient.

Spanish Roja garlic typically contains an average of 8-12 cloves per bulb, with the possibility of finding some doubles or triples. The light brown skins peel off easily, and the variety also produces bulbils that can be used for planting. Spanish Roja is a delightful garlic variety to grow and cook with.
