Does Veronica Georgia Blue spread?

Georgia Blue, also known as Veronica Georgia Blue, is a low-growing perennial plant that can add beauty and texture to any garden or landscape. One of the key attributes of Georgia Blue is its ability to spread and create a shaggy, carpet-like covering. In fact, it can quickly creep and spread 2 or more feet, making it an excellent ground cover option.

Unlike some invasive or aggressive plants, Georgia Blue is neither invasive nor aggressive. It grows vigorously but does not take over or choke out other plants in its vicinity. This makes it a great choice for areas where you want to add some coverage without worrying about it becoming a nuisance.

One of the reasons Georgia Blue is able to spread is due to its creeping rootstocks. These rootstocks enable the plant to send out runners, which then take root and form new plants. This natural method of propagation allows Georgia Blue to gradually expand its coverage area without overwhelming the space it is planted in.

In my personal experience, I have found Georgia Blue to be a fantastic ground cover option. I have used it in several areas of my garden where I wanted to create a lush, carpet-like effect. The plant’s ability to spread has allowed it to fill in gaps and create a cohesive look.

It is worth noting that while Georgia Blue can spread, it does not do so uncontrollably. With proper maintenance and care, you can easily keep it in check and prevent it from spreading too far beyond its desired boundaries. Regular trimming and pruning can help maintain its size and shape.

If you are looking for a low-growing, spreading ground cover option, Veronica Georgia Blue is an excellent choice. Its ability to quickly creep and spread, coupled with its non-invasive nature, make it a versatile and attractive addition to any garden or landscape.
