Does Monsanto own burpee seeds?

Monsanto does not own Burpee Seeds. There seems to be some confusion and misinformation circulating about this topic. I want to clarify that Burpee is an independent and family-owned company that has been in the gardening and seed business for over 140 years.

It is true that Burpee, along with many other seed companies, purchases a small number of seeds from Seminis, which is a subsidiary of Monsanto. Seminis is known for producing a wide variety of vegetable and fruit seeds, and they have been in the seed business for over 150 years.

However, it is important to note that just because Burpee buys seeds from Seminis does not mean that Burpee is owned by Monsanto. Many seed companies, including some of Burpee’s biggest competitors, also purchase seeds from Seminis. It is common practice in the industry to source seeds from various suppliers to offer a diverse range of plant varieties to customers.

Another important point to mention is that Burpee does not sell genetically modified organism (GMO) seeds. They have never sold GMO seeds in the past, and they have made it clear that they will not sell GMO seeds in the future. Burpee has always been committed to providing high-quality, non-GMO seeds to gardeners.

As an avid gardener myself, I have been a loyal customer of Burpee for many years. I have always been impressed with the quality and variety of their seeds. I appreciate their transparency and commitment to providing non-GMO options for gardeners like myself who prefer to grow and eat organic and natural produce.

Burpee Seeds is an independent and family-owned company that is not owned by Monsanto. While they do purchase a small number of seeds from Seminis, a Monsanto subsidiary, they do not sell GMO seeds and have never sold them in the past. As a long-time customer, I can attest to the integrity and dedication of Burpee in providing non-GMO seeds to gardeners.
